Chester L. Ray Sr, 92, of Clovis, NM died Sunday, April 1, 2012 at his home in Clovis. Masonic service will be held at 4:00 pm Saturday, April 7, 2012 at his home, 900 Fairmont Court, Clovis. Cremation has taken place.
Chester was born March 27, 1920 to Elmor and Nellie (Snyder) Ray in Orient, Iowa. He married Olive "Shorty" Truman November 30, 1945 in Orient, Iowa. Chester served in the US Air Force during WWII, Korea Era and Vietnam Era. He worked as a ticket agent at AT&SF Railroad. Chester was initiated as a Mason in 1951 and raised to Master Mason in Clovis #40 Lodge in 1953, Master of the Englewood #360 Lodge in 1989 in Florida, and recieved his 55 year services award in 2010 in Florida. He was a 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason, a Knight Templar of Trinity Commandery #16, Shriner, Lifetime member at American Legion, VFW, Air Force Sgts Association, and High 12 Club CAFB.
Survivors include his daughter, Pat Middleton of Centerville, MO; two sons, Chester L. Ray Jr. of Clovis, NM, and David Ray of Virginia; a daughter-in-law, Ann Marie Ray of Augusta, SC; 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; Elmor and Nellie, wife; "Shorty", son; Rollie, three sisters, and four brothers.
