R. E.

R. E. "Bob" Smith age 87 of Clovis, NM died Friday March 9, 2012 at Retirement Ranch in Clovis. Sevices will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at The Chapel, 1500 Thornton with the Rev. Alan McAlister officiating. Burial will follow in Mission Gardens of Memories. Randy Smith, Ricky Smith, Kerry Thrasher, Cory Thrasher, Scotty Smith and Aaron Smith will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include: Joe D. Thrasher, Jimmy Joe Robinson, Wes Droke, Donnie Curry, Keith Curry and Ronnie Stroud.

Bob was born January 12, 1925 to John and Beulah (Tuggle) Smith in Clovis, NM. He married Johnnie Droke an August 11, 1947 in Portales, NM. Bob owned and operated Bob's Upholstery Shop for 50 yrs. He taught an upholstery class at Clovis Community College for seven years. He was of the Baptist faith, a member of the Eastern Antique Automobile Club, and the Circle 8 Square Dance Culb. Bob loved to travel by plane and motorhome with his wife Johnnie and her brother and sister-in-law Cleon and Ruthie Droke. They traveled all states except Alaska. Bob restored numerous antique cars throughtout his life.

Survivors include two sons; Ricky (Jorita) Smith of Clovis, NM, Randy (Debra) Smith of Amarillo, Tx, One Daughter; Sandra (Joe D.) Thrasher of Amarillo, TX., Three sisters-in-law; Ruthie Droke, Cleo Lowrey, Bunchie (Jimmy Joe) Robinson, six grandchildren; Kerry Thrasher, Cory Thrasher, Amanda (Derek) Davis, Scotty (Jaymi) Smith, Aaron (Samantha) Smith, Shelly Smith, two Great Grandchilldren; Hayden Smith and Preston Smith and two on the way, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. He was preceded by his parents John & Beulah, Wife Johnnie, one Brother, Ward Smith and two sisters; Bell Curry and Mildred Stroud.
